Burbank, CA – November 19, 2019 – Legendary Pictures has closed an overall deal with Writer-Director Fede Alvarez and his writing partner Rodolfo Sayagues to create, develop and produce feature films through their production banner Bad Hombre Films. Also joining Bad Hombre as Head of Production is Shintaro Shimosawa, whose previous credits include “Fear the Walking Dead” and THE GRUDGE.
As part of the deal, Bad Hombre’s next project will be an untitled horror film set in DC written by Joe Epstein, directed by Alvarez and produced by Bad Hombre Films. While specifics are being kept under wraps, it’s been described as THE SHINING set in The White House. The duo will also produce a complete reboot of the classic 1974 cult film THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE to be written by Chris Thomas Devlin.
“We are looking forward to sparking a new and meaningful relationship with a powerhouse like Legendary. The imprint and wisdom they have is second to none, and we look forward to adding new titles to their incredible library,” stated Alvarez.
Alvarez’s and Sayagues’s past projects include writing EVIL DEAD and DON’T BREATHE, both of which Alvarez directed through Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures. Evil Dead went on to gross $100m worldwide and Don’t Breathe $160m. Bad Hombre Films is repped by WME and Jackoway Tyerman.

Devlin previously wrote COBWEB, which is set up at Lionsgate with Vertigo and Point Grey producing. COBWEB was #1 on the 2018 Blood List and appeared on the 2018 Black List.
